WCBS 880's Levon Putney reports from New Jersey
Horst Adler, a 1959 graduate of a school in Quakertown, Pa., had given the ring to a girl he was dating in Philadelphia in 1960 or 1961. She kept it after they broke up and the ring wasn't seen until a woman in Oakland, N.J., rummaged through her late father's belongings.
Lette Magrini said the gold and onyx ring with the initials H.A. intrigued her. "It's not beat up. It's not scratched," Magrini told WCBS 880 reporter Levon Putney.
Magrini e-mailed the school's administrative assistant, who found Adler was the only H.A. in the Class of '59. A Google search located the 69-year-old in Mesa, Ariz.
It's not known how her father got the ring.
Magrini says Adler even offered to pay the postage for sending the ring.
Magrini says that "made me laugh, so I told him that, quite frankly, consider that 51 years worth of interest."
