NJ Transit Train Hits, Kills Man Near Elizabeth
ELIZABETH, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey Transit says one of its trains struck and killed a man who was on the tracks near a station in northern New Jersey.
It happened around 6 a.m. Sunday west of the North Elizabeth station. NJ Transit says the Northeast Corridor 7813 train was headed to Trenton from New York City when the man was hit.
Officials are still trying to figure out who the man was and why he was on the tracks. No one else was injured. Service was briefly delayed on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines.
