NJ Transit To Provide More Real-Time Travel Info
TRENTON, N.J. (CBS 2/AP) -- New Jersey Transit is making changes to provide passengers with more access to real-time travel information.
The agency approved a $22 million contract Wednesday with Plainview, N.Y.-based Clever Devices to equip more than 1,000 buses with technology that will deliver bus location and arrival information to passengers with web-enabled devices.
The system also will serve as the foundation for future improvements in providing real-time travel information.
The agency also announced plans to enhance its "My Transit'' alert system, so customers can receive alerts regarding weekend rail service and service disruptions with the Access Link paratransit service.
More than 40,000 riders currently use the "My Transit'' system to get alerts for specific trains on weekdays.
