NJ TRANSIT Bus Checked After Passengers 'See Something, Say Something' About Another Rider
MARLBORO, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police stopped a NJ TRANSIT bus after passengers saw something and said something.
NJ TRANSIT spokesman Jim Smith says the bus was headed from Newark to Lakewood when it was stopped at Route 9 south and Route 520 by Marlboro police around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police Capt. Fred Reck says some passengers had reported another passenger was acting nervous and a clock he was carrying had fallen on the floor.
Police closed the section of Route 9 until a NJ Transit canine unit cleared the scene just after 10 a.m. Click here to check current traffic conditions.
Reck says the man told police he was returning home after visiting Israel and he used the clock to tell time.
The 15 passengers, including the man with the clock, were transferred to another bus.
The clock was determined to be safe.
