NJ TRANSIT Announces Winter Storm-Related Changes For Customers
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- With forecasters warning of strong winds and rain that could also become wet snow on Wednesday into Thursday, NJ TRANSIT announced preparations for the impending storm on Tuesday afternoon.
The agency said it is taking steps to minimize delays and ensure safety.
NJ TRANSIT will begin offering full systemwide cross-honoring starting 2 p.m. Wednesday through the end of the service day on Thursday.
The move will enable customers to use their ticket to pass on an alternate travel mode, including rail, bus or light rail.
Customers are advised of the following:
Systemwide: NJ TRANSIT plans to operate a regular weekday schedule Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7. Depending on the impact of the storm, it may be necessary for NJ TRANSIT to modify service as conditions change.
Bus Service: While every effort will be made to continue operating bus service throughout the state, customers may experience delays or detours on their routes in the event of extreme winter weather conditions. Customers are advised to plan accordingly and anticipate disruptions to bus service.
NJ TRANSIT is also urging customers to visit njtransit.com or utilize its Twitter feed at @NJ_TRANSIT for the latest travel information.
The agency said it will also provide the most current service information through the My Transit alert system, which sends travel advisories for a specific trip to cell phones and other devices. For more information, click here.
