NJ Man Killed In Major Deegan Wrong-Way Crash
NEW YORK (AP) -- Police said a New Jersey man was killed in an early morning collision with a Massachusetts driver heading the wrong way on a New York road.
Authorities said Patrick Smith of Hackensack, N.J., was driving south on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx around 3:45 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by car going northbound in the southbound lanes. The 42-year-old was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested the driver of the other car, a 26-year-old from Roslindale, Mass. He faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
