NJ Democratic Lawmakers Push To Make Hudson-Bergen Light Rail A Reality
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Standing in the street between railroad tracks and Englewood City Hall, lawmakers would like to see the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail live up to its name.
"It's not the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, it's the Hudson Light Rail," Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco pointed out.
As WCBS 880's Levon Putney reported, the line goes from City Hall a few blocks to Englewood Hospital, then down to Hudson County.
"But it never really made it into Bergen," Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto said.

"It's time to make the Bergen-Hudson Light Rail a reality," Tedesco said.
Tedesco said it would help businesses and commuters who travel into Manhattan.
Sen. Robert Menendez, among other New Jersey Democratic leaders, are calling on Congress to fast-track funding for long-term transportation projects like the light rail.
"It's time for us to stop talking about these projects and start building them," Menendez said.
