NJ Couple Indicted On Murder Charges In Death Of Guttenberg Deli Owner
GUTTENBERG, N.J. (AP) -- A northern New Jersey man and his girlfriend have been indicted on felony murder charges in the death of a deli owner who was stabbed more than 40 times during a robbery earlier this year.
Forty-year-old Jose Castaing and 32-year-old Liz Velez, both of North Bergen, also face charges of murder, robbery and weapons offenses in the indictment recently handed up by a Hudson County grand jury.
The charges stem from an April 26 robbery at the Guttenberg deli owned by 52-year-old Bahah Nesim, who was repeatedly stabbed in his face, chest and back. Prosecutors say a customer interrupted the robbery and flagged down a passing police car, and the suspects were arrested a short time later.
It was not known Saturday if Velez and Castaing have retained attorneys.
