Police: Commuter Bus Slams Into 10 Vehicles In South Brunswick, 7 People Hurt
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A commuter bus in central New Jersey slammed into 10 vehicles stopped at a traffic light, injuring seven people, police said Thursday.
The bus was headed south on Route 130 around 6:30 a.m. and neared the Friendship Road intersection, where two lanes of vehicles were stopped at a red light, South Brunswick Police Capt. Jim Ryan said.
The bus rear-ended a vehicle and then almost seemed to go down the middle, pushing vehicles to either side, Ryan said.
The South Brunswick Police Department tweeted a video of the scene that showed the back of the bus with mangled cars and debris strewn around the intersection.
Two people were seriously injured. Their conditions are not known.
Only the driver was on the bus.
No charges have been filed and the investigation continues.
Route 130 was closed or partially closed for two hours.
