NJ Bill Targets Teen Dating Violence
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey school districts may soon have to incorporate age-appropriate dating violence education into their middle and high school curricula.
The mandate is part of legislation that was approved earlier this month by a state Assembly panel. It would also require that faculty and staff be trained to recognize and handle dating violence among students.
And the state Department of Education would have to establish a task force to develop a policy to prevent and address dating violence at schools.
That policy would have to contain, at a minimum, a statement that dating violence will not be tolerated. It also would have to include details on reporting incidents.
