Nestled away in the quasi-industrial 3rd Avenue of Gowanus/Park Slope, Draft Barn is an experience for serious beer lovers.

Bigger and more expansive than it's Park Slope neighbor Beer Table, the atmosphere stays true to name: The inside of the bar is barn-esque, with stable like booths for private seating, with a brick and wood bar area and walls painted with long obsolete maps of Eastern Europe.  Needless to say, no dressing up is needed. Casual wear will suit you just fine as the bar doubles as a sports bar with strategically placed flat screens located throughout the barn.

You don't have to be a beer aficionado to get the star treatment here.  You can browse the six page beer menu if you like, but it's unnecessary.  Upon arrival Yuri, the bartender, will ask you what kind of beer you like.  You can stick with descriptions like wheat, sour, or stout, but if you really have no idea you can say something along the lines of "I like Yuengling" and he will rattle off a description of the various beers in stock that will tickle your taste buds.

There's little in regard to upselling, but you will be highly encouraged to order food because, as you will learn, the sausage, kraut, and schnitzel are all homemade.  Old world beer, and old world food.

If you're more of a mixed drink fan, this may not be the spot for you, as there's no liquor behind the bar.  But if you're looking for a casual place to sip a frothy beverage while gnawing on a homemade wurst, this place is a real find.
