Nick Cannon Discloses Lupus-Like Autoimmune Disease
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Nick Cannon is opening up about the health woes that prompted him to step down as host of "Rollin with Nick Cannon" on 92.3 NOW earlier this month.
Cannon told People Magazine he is suffering from an autoimmune disease. Cannon also told the magazine that the blood clots found in his lungs were the result of a kidney condition that is "something I'm going to be living with all my life."
Cannon was rushed to a hospital in Aspen, Colorado in January due to kidney trouble.
"I feel blessed to be alive," Cannon told the magazine.
"My doctor was saying that my work is going to kill me," Cannon said when he stepped down from his radio show.
In addition to some professional commitments, Cannon is concentrating now on raising his newly-arrived twins with wife Mariah Carey.
Cannon said no-one else in his family has the condition he has been diagnosed with.
