NFL Bombshell? 'UES Madam' Anna Gristina To Name Names On 'Dr. Phil'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Anna Gristina, the so-called "Upper East Side madam" who pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution, says she plans to write a tell-all book naming names.
Gristina told the Daily News following a brief court appearance Wednesday that football fans particularly will be interested in the book.
Though she declined to elaborate to the Daily News, the New York Post got Gristina to tease some details about her upcoming appearance on the "Dr. Phil" show.
"There is going to be a giant name dropped — actually, a couple of them," she told the Post.
The paper asked if she meant Giant -- as in Big Blue -- to which Gristina responded with a "distinctly mischievous laugh."
"Everyone's going to have to watch Dr. Phil," Gristina said. "I will tell you that one of the names is high-level (NFL) management. Then there's an older player who's still very well known."
Gristina was released last month after being sentenced to time served. She's on five years of probation. She pleaded guilty to a single count of promoting prostitution.
Prosecutors had accused her of having a roster of wealthy, well-placed clients and boasting of law-enforcement connections during 15 years in a business that made her millions. After an investigation, they said it became clear she was simply running a brothel and profiting from it. She said she was merely starting a dating service.
New Orleans linebacker Jonathan Vilma took the news as a chance to prod NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
"How funny would that be if the nyc Madam says Goodell was her client on dr Phil next week," tweeted Vilma, whose bad blood with the commissioner stems from the Saints' Bountygate.
Gristina told the Post her "Dr. Phil" appearance will be taped next Wednesday or Thursday and will air the following week.
