Mixing competition, random knowledge, friends and beer, bar trivia is one of New York's favorite weeknight activities. Here are a couple places you can go to down some cold ones and put all those useless facts and movie quotes you've memorized to good use.
Crash Mansion

Perhaps one of the most engaging trivia venues there is, Crash Mansion holds games that include big prizes...$200 to the winner. The game begins at 8 p.m. and is $7 to play. The competition is intense and the questions can get tough, with some falling into the "who would ever know that" variety. The game takes place on Monday nights, and it is 21 or older to get in.
The Slipper Room

TEMPORARILY CLOSED. On Monday nights, The Slipper Room hosts "The Big Quiz Thing" at 8 p.m. Here, competitors also have the chance to take home $200 or $50 for coming in second. Entry is $7. Get there early though to get a table because the bar fills up fast.

The Gael holds it's Pub Quiz every Tuesday at 9 p.m. The game is free to play and the winning team gets a $50 bar tab. Be sure to get there by at least 8:30 p.m. to ensure a table. The Trivia Night questions tend to be a lot of movie/entertainment questions, but also include picture and "name that song" ipod rounds.

Each Tuesday, TriviaTryst puts on the trivia night at The Dubliner. The games include "tryst rounds," which let teams discuss questions with other people in the venue - a sort of "ask the audience" feature. Questions are from a variety of categories including fashion, science, music and current events.

Every Tuesday, Keats Restaurant has Kwiz Nite with questions that cover sports, history, literature and music. There are additional categories like Name That Loon, Homonyms, Famous 'Captains', and Dan's 'Dromes (all answers are palindromes. Teams compete for nightly bar tabs, monthly and yearly prizes. For some brain food, burgers at Keats are less than $10 and are served on an English muffin.
