'Newsroom' Actress Pulls A Weiner, Mistakenly Tweets Topless Photo Of Self
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork.com) - Oops.
When will people realize it's probably not the best idea to have nude pictures of yourself and a Twitter account on your Smartphone?
Just ask former Congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner resigned in June 2011 in the wake of a Twitter sex scandal after lewd pictures he sent to at least six women surfaced.
That prompted numerous calls from colleagues for the embattled lawmaker to step down.
Fast forward to Sept 12, 2012. Not a political scandal, but an embarrassment nonetheless.
Actress Alison Pill, who plays Maggie on HBO's "The Newsroom," got caught with her shirt off recently. The photo in question shows Pill lying on a bed, wearing only dark glasses.
Pill quickly deleted the photo but it was a bit too late.
She apparently meant to delete a topless photo of herself, but instead mistakenly tweeted it to her 23,000 followers.
Pill took to Twitter and issued an apology.
Her fiance, actor Jay Baruchel, took it all in stride and posted the following message on Twitter: "My fiancee is an hilarious dork." #imustgladitdidnthappentomefirst and "Smartphones will get ya."
He later Tweeted: "You guys have shown the missus and I a lot of love and it is appreciated." #respect.
