MTA Renames Newkirk Avenue Subway Station In Brooklyn To Honor Haitian-American Community
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn subway station has been renamed to pay tribute to the city's Haitian-American community.
The Newkirk Avenue station in Flatbush is now the Newkirk Avenue-Little Haiti station.
It's located in the Haitian community's business and cultural district.
The MTA says the renaming is part of a project to honor the neighborhood's unique Haitian roots and boost economic development in the area.
