Man Dead, Pregnant Woman Injured In Newark Shooting
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Newark are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured.
It happened at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday outside 196 Seymour Avenue.
A man in his 20s was struck in the chest and killed while a woman believed to be eight or nine months pregnant was hit in her left foot, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported. She is being treated at a nearby hospital.
Residents of the home and neighbors yelled at reporters to leave, saying "stay out of our business," Schuck reported.
There is no word from police on a motive or possible suspects.
The man's death marks the sixth homicide in Newark in the past 72 hours.
Schuck reached out to both Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose for comment, but they were not immediately available.
