Man Wounded, NJ TRANSIT Bus Damaged, By Gunfire In Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Gunfire in Newark left a man wounded in the leg and damaged an NJ TRANSIT bus Monday afternoon.
Newark police were dispatched to the 200 block of South 11th Street, and found the man with the gunshot wound, police said. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.
Officers also found that a single projectile had struck the windshield of the NJ TRANSIT bus, police said. No one on the bus was injured, police said.
Police found several shell casings on the corner of 11th Avenue and South 11th Street. There was no information on exactly how many gunshots were fired.
Newark police Major Crimes Detectives were searching for those involved in the shooting and trying to determine a motive late Monday.
