New York City's 5 Best Hot Fudge Sundaes

Few things make the young and the young-at-heart happier on a hot day than a few scoops of cool ice cream smothered with warm hot fudge, dollops of whipped cream, and a bright red cherry. Here's some of the best places serving up awesome hot fudge sundaes in New York. By Siobhan Wallace.

Ronnybrook Milk Bar in the famous Chelsea Market is not only your stop for lunch, it's also the stop for dessert. They serve up their creamy, rich ice cream practically floating in hot fudge topped with fluffy homemade whipped cream and a burst of colorful sprinkles.

With a name like Sundaes and Cones, this East Village ice cream spot better know what it's doing, and it does. For the best of both worlds, get your sundae made in one of their waffle bowls, which will be filled with two scoops rich ice cream before topping with homemade hot fudge and whipped cream.

Carroll Gardens' Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain is a throwback to the olden days complete with an ice cream bar and vintage uniforms. They serve up their overflowing hot fudge sundaes in a classic tulip sundae glass filled to the brim with decadent ice cream and topped by the bright Maraschino cherry you've even seen.

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream only uses the finest quality ingredients available, so don't expect them to scrimp on their sundaes. Luscious Michel Cluizel hot fudge smothers their creamy ice cream before being topped with whole walnuts and homemade whipped cream and a sour cherry. It's a sundae even the organic mom can approve of.

Eddie's Sweet Shop has been a Queens institution since it opened more than a hundred years ago. Be prepared to be impressed by their hot fudge sundae: it's complete decadence from the thick homemade whipped cream to the initial layer of fudge that's spooned into a frozen cup causing a thick, hardened base at the bottom of the ice cream.
