New York Primary Might Matter This Time Around
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It doesn't happen very often, but with the way the Presidential race is going, this year's primary in New York might actually matter.

The New York primary is on April 24 (along with the Connecticut primary). Typically, the race is over before voters here go to the polls.
"It would turn the spotlight on the Republican party in New York, which is not a party that gets a lot of attention," said Robert Shapiro, a political science professor at Columbia University.
Attention translates into more money and interest.
"Now everybody's going to be involved, and that's good in the long term. It's good for everybody because more people become involved," said former Rep. Guy Molinari, who heads Mitt Romney's New York team.
He expects the candidates will actually visit the state for more than just fundraisers. He expects them to actually campaign in the Empire State.
It hasn't been easy for him seeing nominations decided before New Yorkers even vote.
"Yes, it is very frustrating," he said.
Today, of course, is Super Tuesday. There are ten states voting today. They are Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Ohio, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia.
