New York Pakistani Communities Mourn Deaths In Taliban Attack On School
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Mass funerals were underway in Pakistan Wednesday following a massacre by the Taliban at a military-run school in the country's troubled northwest.
Meanwhile in New York, a group of Pakistanis gathered to condemn the violence and to plead for help for innocent Pakistanis, 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera reported.

Jaweria Safdar said she escaped after a suicide bomber attacker her clan in 2008, so she understands the pain that the parents of the dead children are feeling.
"There were like 14 or 15 missing bodies, and they were all in pieces," she said. "So I can tell you what is going through the minds of those parents who have lost their little angels."

Tuesday's attack in the northwestern city of Peshawar left 148 people, including 132 children, dead. An additional 121 students and three staff members were wounded.
Safdar told Rivera she wants the U.S. government to grant asylum to her people who are looking to flee terrorism in Pakistan.
Later Wednesday evening, Pakistan's consul general was to attend a candlelight vigil along with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, several interfaith leaders and members of the borough's Pakistani community.
