New York, New Jersey Senators Betting Pizza On Devils-Rangers Series
NEW YORK (AP) — There's more than a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals at stake in the Round 3 series between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers.
The U.S. senators from New York and New Jersey are wagering pizza on the outcome.
If the Devils win the Eastern Conference Finals, Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand will have to buy a piece for Sens. Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg at the New Jersey pizza place of their choice. If the Rangers win, Menendez and Lautenberg will have to buy a pie at the New York pizza place chosen by Schumer and Gillibrand.
New York won Game 1 on Monday, 3-0. And Menendez tweeted with confidence on Wednesday before Game 2 of the best-of-7 series:
"The bet is on: (at)NHLDevils win & (at)ChuckSchumer (at)SenGillibrand have to buy (at)FrankLautenberg & I our favorite (hash)NJ pizza of choice & vice versa."
Tricia Enright, Menendez's spokeswomen, believes that Schumer and Gillibrand have chosen to get pizza from Grimaldi's in New York if they win. She said the New Jersey senators have not chosen a shop yet.
