New York Knicks, Rangers Release Statement On Racism, Social Justice: 'We Stand With All Who Act For Positive Change'

The New York Knicks became the final became the final organization in the NBA to release a statement regarding the fight for social equality our nation is facing.. This comes about a week after players and other employees were incensed nothing was being said publicly
Posted on the teams' Twitter accounts, the two sentence statement reads as follows:
Every one of us has a role to play in creating a more just and equal society, where there is no racism, bigotry, violence or hate. We stand with all who act for positive change.
James Dolan recently sent out internal emails where he first said the Knicks were no more qualified to speak on social matters than anyone and then vehemently condemned and rejected racism against anyone.
DIVERSIFYING HOCKEY
Seven current or former black NHL players are trying to take strides for the sport of hockey to fight racism and intolerance. The Hockey Diversity Alliance has been formed..
It's headed by former NHL player Akim Aliu, who as recently as 2019 talked about facing racism coming up through the minors.
Through their statement, the group says "Our mission is to eradicate racism and intolerance in hockey... We will strive to be a force for positive change not only within our game of hockey but also within society."
The Hockey Diversity Alliance is not a part of the NHL but will work alongside the league which has also started initiatives and groups to fight racism..
NFL PLAYERS COALITION SPEAKS OUT
Following last week's powerful video plea by some of the NFL's top African American players, Roger Goodell and the NFL have stated they are in the fight for racial equality. That they believe Black Lives Matter. Something the league wasn't able to say four years ago when Colin Kaepernick started his peaceful protest by kneeling during the national anthem.
Rockland County natives and current New England Patriots Jason and Devin McCourty are part of the NFL Players Coalition and say it's important for the players to continue to use their platform to inform others of the inequalities they face.
"There's so many guys. Stop racism. Systematic racism. Actionable things in their community, allow them to do so and support them," McCourty said.
And we'd like to pass along our deepest condolences to Jason's twin Devin and wife who recently suffered the loss of their unborn child. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McCourty family.
