New York Increasing Penalties For Those Who Assault MTA Workers
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- The state of New York is toughening penalties for those who assault MTA station cleaners and utility workers.
On Friday, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed three bills into law that increase the assaults to felonies.
The assaults would carry a maximum sentence of seven years in jail. The law protects process servers, utility workers or cleaners at bus, subway and train stations.
