New York Attorney General Candidates Debate
ALBANY, NY (AP) -Both candidates for attorney general in New York are promising to fight corruption while taking swipes at each other for limited efforts in the past.
Democrat Eric Schneiderman and Republican Dan Donovan each claim their respective experience makes them best qualified for the job.
Schneiderman notes his reform efforts as a state senator, including ousting a colleague. Donovan points to his prosecutions in Staten Island, which he says is the safest borough in the safest big U.S. city.
They debated for an hour at WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. Several public television stations are expected to broadcast the debate later Monday, with WMHT-TV airing it at 9 p.m.
A Siena College poll released last week showed Schneiderman with a 7 point lead over Donovan.
