New York Aquarium Welcomes Black-Footed Penguin Chick
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A cute chick is drawing crowds to Coney Island.
A black-footed penguin chick is the first of its kind to hatch at the New York Aquarium in 15 years.
Black-footed penguins are endangered, making the chick's arrival significant for the aquarium and for the survival of the species.
Black-footed penguins are native to the southern tip of Africa.
The chick can be seen at the aquarium's Sea Cliffs exhibit along with her parents, Boulder and Dassen, and about a dozen other black-footed penguins.
The aquarium is open daily at 10 a.m.
