New World Trade Center Site Taking Shape In Lower Manhattan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The new World Trade Center site is taking shape in lower Manhattan.
Tower 7 is up and open and is 92 percent occupied. The foundations of Tower 2 and 3 are complete and Towers 4 and 1 rise higher each day.

Developer Larry Silverstein says construction on the new and improved World Trade Center is making progress.
"Unlike anything else that has been done in America, these buildings are beyond code. They're incredibly safe," said Silverstein. "I expect these buildings to be impregnable."
Joe Daniels, president of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, says the tree-lined plaza and reflecting pools bring honor to the victims.

"A place of solitude, somewhere to find peace in the middle of this incredibly vibrant city," said Daniels.
One World Trade Center officially became the tallest building in lower Manhattan in July when construction reached the 76th floor.
The memorial plaza can comfortably hold about 1,500 people at a time and officially opens to the public on September 12.
