New Sketch Released Of Suspect In Forest Park Stun Gun Rape

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who they say raped a woman last month in a Queens park. Authorities have released a new sketch of the man they are hunting.

According to police, the attacker struck his 69-year-old victim with a stun gun -- but didn't fire -- around 4:30 p.m. on August 26 near Myrtle Avenue and Forest Park Road in Forest Park. He knocked her to the ground and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a white man 30 to 40 years years of age and standing 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 inches tall. He was clean shaven and wearing a black T-shirt and black sweatpants at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS or by submitting a tip at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. A $22,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to a conviction.

This latest incident was the second time this year that a woman has been sexually assaulted by a man armed with a stun gun in the park, police said.

In March, a 23-year-old woman reported a similar attack in the same park. She told police a man came from behind her and shot her in the neck with a stun gun before sexually assaulting her.

Police have not linked the two attacks.
