New Rochelle Teams Up With Union To Go Green
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – New Rochelle is teaming up with a local buildings superintendents union to further sustainability in the community.

The city announced its new partnership called "Green Supers Program" this week and the new efforts aim to greenify the city as much as possible with the help of Local 32BJ.
Mayor Noam Bramson said the program will teach supers how to lower energy bills and water usage and improve heating and air conditioning performance.
"It's one of several steps we are taking and want to take to make New Rochelle a more green efficient community," Bramson said.
Though the program, participating managers will send their supers to a rigorous 40-hour core course, which covers all aspects of green building operations and maintenance. The topics also include building science, building envelope, lighting, HVAC, air quality, water conservation and energy efficiency.
"We'll help New Rochelle reduce its energy use and carbon footprint and will also help many of our residents save money and improve their quality of life," Bramson said.
This is the first time this program has moved outside of New York City and Bramson calls the partnership exciting.
"It's one of several steps that we can take and wish to take to improve the quality of life for our residents," he said.
