New Rochelle Police Fatally Shoot Emotionally Disturbed Man
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Police in New Rochelle shot and killed a man Sunday afternoon after they said he lunged at them with a knife.
The fatal shooting happened around 4 p.m. at a building on Hickory Street.
According to police, they had to force their way into a resident's apartment.
Police tasered the man, but the shock failed to subdue him and the man tried to attack officers, police said.

Neighbors said they alerted authorities several days ago that the man seemed to be having troubles.
"On Thursday, I knew he was not well, I knew he wasn't taking his medications, psychotropic medications," a woman told CBS 2.
Residents of the building identified the man as Sam Kruze. They said he was in his late 40s and an artist.
The man's ex-wife called police, the Journal News reported Sunday.
According to city officials, the man was emotionally disturbed.
A witness told the Journal News they heard a single gunshot.
