New Problems Found At Stinky Rockland School
NEW CITY, NY (WCBS 880) - There are still no classes for the rest of the week at Laurel Plains Elementary School in New City.
LISTEN: WCBS 880's Sean Adams reports
Additional tests are being done now that chemicals have been found in the soil of an island in the parking lot, but they are not believed to be the source of a mysterious sickening odor.
"They could be chemicals from composting. They could be chemicals from a natural gas line," school superintendent Maggie Keller-Cogan told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams. "They didn't know and before they offer that conjecture, they wanted to make sure that they had additional information."
As testing continues, students attend classes at the high school.
The superintendent expects a final determination by Friday.
As a back-up, she's looking for space in neighboring school districts.
