New NYC Pier Set To Open
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City has a new pier that stretches 1,000 feet into the Hudson River.
Connie Fishman, president of the Hudson River Park Trust, compared the newly rebuilt Pier 25 to the ocean pier at California's Redondo Beach. It has three volleyball courts, skate park, climbing walls, miniature golf and basketball court.
It's slated to open on Friday.
Fishman told the New York Post that the pier is a "vastly expanded version of what used to be" at the site.
She said it was rebuilt with $70 million in federal funds.
