New Long Island Expressway Signs Display Distance Times

Well, now you can give them an answer.
New overhead signs are in place to tell drivers how long it will take to get to given points ahead.
There are nineteen of them. The one at exit 40 lists travel times to the Cross Island Parkway and exit 39.
Some drivers, however, are not too thrilled.
"It doesn't make sense," said one. "If it says fifteen minutes, it's not going to take you fifteen minutes. It's going to take you a half an hour."
He doesn't think they'll be accurate.
The signs will also display messages about particular delays, such as accidents or construction.
Similar message boards are already in place on the Northern State Parkway and Southern State Parkway.
