NJ Lawmaker Calls On House To Approve Zika Emergency Funding Bill
EDISON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey congressman Frank Pallone Jr. is calling on the House to approve immediate funding to fight the Zika virus.
Pallone -- a Democrat -- has criticized Republicans for refusing to approve President Barack Obama's request for $1.9 billion in emergency funding to combat Zika, CBS2 reported.

The congressman is expected to address the situation at a press conference Tuesday morning in Edison.
Earlier this year, a woman visiting the United States gave birth to a baby at Hackensack University Medical Center that had a Zika-related birth defect. The baby was born with microcephaly as a result of the mother contracting the Zika virus internationally.
Last week, New York senator Charles Schumer called for Congress to resume -- if only for one day -- to vote on the emergency funding bill.
The calls to action come on the heels of a U.S. travel warning for Miami, where Zika is being spread locally by mosquitoes.
Congress is now scheduled to reconvene in September.
