New Jersey Retirement Home Puts Out 250 Flags To Honor Local Veterans
POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey retirement community honored its residents with an awesome array of flags this Memorial Day.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, the 250 flags stood proudly lining the main road of the Erickson Living Cedar Crest retirement community in Pompton Plains.
Each was dedicated to a local veteran.

For resident David Figman, it was a chance to recollect his time in World War II.
"It was Germany somewhere. We fought them and everything," Figman said. "Needless to say we won."
He was too humbled to tell war stories, but filled with pride at seeing the field of honor.
"Of course I love it," Figman said. "I love anything that has to do with America."
Some of the flags have attached pictures and biographies of soldiers. Cedar Crest executive director Cathy Guttman said the response was so overwhelming that it will likely become a new addition.
"Just a beautiful sight unfurling in the wind and recognizing our country and what our flag stands for," Guttman said.
