New Jersey Gas Prices Continue Sharp Decline
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Motorists continue to see sharply lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.78, down 5 cents from last week. That's also much lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.13.
This marks the eighth straight week that gas prices have fallen in New Jersey.
The national average price on Friday was $2.95, down 5 cents from last week. That's also much lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.22.
Gas prices will likely continue to fall in the coming weeks. The lower prices are mostly due to abundant global oil production that has led to falling crude oil prices.
