New Hyde Park Pizzeria Delivering Pies To Giants In Indianapolis
NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Hyde Park eatery is stepping in to help the New York Giants with a major dilemma: finding a good slice of pizza in Indianapolis.
A volunteer police escort was on hand to clear the way for General Manager Gaetano Corteo, of Umberto's Pizzeria on Jericho Turnpike, to catch his flight Friday morning at LaGuardia Airport.
Nassau Sheriff Michael Sposato said he is a big Giants fan and donated his car to drive the pizzas. Retired police officers drove their motorcycles and Sposato says no taxpayer dollars were wasted.

Umberto's is delivering 15 pies -- including Grandma, Buffalo, and Margherita -- to the team and there may be a little something extra in the slices for good luck.
"We do have a special ingredient but we can't publicize it, otherwise all the other teams are going to want it," owner Carlo Corteo told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.
The special delivery is expected to arrive in Indy just in time for lunch.
Umberto's has been delivering pizza to the Giants for the past four seasons.
Players Justin Tuck and David Diehl are big fans of the Grandma pie.
