The days of having to park far away and take a shuttle bus to the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road train station are over.
A new garage with a capacity of over 1,400 vehicles opened on Monday.
It's also equipped with energy efficient lighting and a lot of security, says garage electrician Mark Worley.
"There's 89 cameras and this gentleman in the booth here can watch everything that's going on and they watch it at the main headquarters in Syosset," Worley told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs. "We have a board here [that] tells you what parking is available at every level, so you're not circling all day."
"A lot of people have been waiting for it," says security guard Frank Cardone.
Drivers are thrilled to have the new garage, three years after the old one was demolished for structural problems.
Many say the new $65 million facility will shave as much as twenty minutes off their commute.
The garage is for town of Oyster Bay residents only.
