SOUTH NYACK, NY (WCBS 880) -- South Nyack residents are hoping a new bridge could bring their once divided town back together.
The Hudson River village was separated by the New York State Thruway when the Tappan Zee Bridge was built in the 1950s.

But with the possibility of a new Tappan Zee Bridge being built, South Nyack mayor Tish Dubow is hoping the project would include a "lid" park.
In a perfect world, the lid park would a structure crossing over the New York State Thruway and have bike paths, shops and maybe even a road.
"The lid park will provide a crossroad," said Dubow. "We will have our town connected which is the way it was before."
Dubow is hoping a new bridge and lid park will be built to help bring the community back together.
