New 2nd Ave Deli Location Opens 15 Years After Murder Of Owner Abe Lebewohl
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The family of murdered 2nd Ave Deli owner Abe Lebewohl officially opened another location on Manhattan's Upper East Side Tuesday, fifteen years after he was killed.
Instead of a traditional ribbon, the family cut a salami and Broadway Star Fyvush Finkel said the blessings as the Lebewohl family opened the new deli on First Avenue and 75th Street.
Members of his family remembered the fateful day back in March of 1996, when Abe Lebewohl was robbed and shot in broad daylight as he walked to a bank to make a deposit.

Josh Lebewohl said the killing of his uncle still haunts the family.
"The reward has been upped to $150,000 so anyone with information, I ask them to please call the police with any information that they may have," he told 1010 WINS' Stan Brooks.
The family says the death of their loved one is "still very painful." They said that customers still come into the store to share an interesting story or anecdote they've had with Lebewohl.
The armed robbery still remains an unsolved mystery years later.
