Nets Sign 17-Year Veteran Jerry Stackhouse To One-Year Deal
NEW YORK (WFAN) - The Brooklyn Nets have reached a verbal agreement to sign 37-year-old guard Jerry Stackhouse on a one-year, $1.3 million deal according to multiple reports.
The 17-year veteran averaged 3.6 points in 30 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season. With the Nets resigning Gerald Wallace and unofficially acquiring Joe Johnson, Stackhouse will provide depth on the Brooklyn bench.
The Nets also recently re-signed Deron Williams to a five-year deal.
Brooklyn will be Stackhouse's eighth team in during his career. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995 and has played with Detroit, Washington, Dallas, Milwaukee, Miami and most recently Atlanta.
The former North Carolina Tar Heel has averaged 17.4 ppg, 3.4 apg and 3.3 rpg. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1996.
The two-time NBA All-Star had the highest point total, 2,380, during the 2000-01 NBA season.
