Nets Reportedly Agree To Deal With Former First-Round Pick Donte Greene
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Brooklyn Nets and forward Donte Greene have agreed in principle to a contract, CBSSports.com reported via Yahoo! Sports.
Greene would be the 15th and final player on the Nets' roster.
The 24-year-old out of Syracuse University has spent the last four seasons with the Sacramento Kings. A former first-round pick of the Memphis Grizzlies, the six-foot-11, 226-pounder has spent the majority of his career on the sidelines, never living up to expectations after bolting for the NBA after just one season in college.
His most productive season came in 2009-'10, when he averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in 21.4 minutes over 76 games played. The Baltimore native has played in less than 70 games in each of his other three seasons in the league.
Greene is expected to get limited playing time in Brooklyn, sitting behind Gerald Wallace and recently-signed Milos Teletovic.
Greene averaged 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.7 minutes last season, appearing in 53 games for Sacramento.
