Neighbors On Edge After Pit Bulls Chase Kids In Uniondale
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Neighbors in Uniondale, Long Island, were on edge Saturday after two pit bulls got loose and chased a group of children.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, police said two pit bulls got out of their fenced yard on Fisher Avenue in Uniondale, ran into the street, and chased a group of kids on Friday. Officers who responded to the scene were also charged at by the animals.

Officers discharged one shot, but did not strike the dog.
Emergency service officers eventually tranquilized the dogs using a dart, police said. The pit bulls were returned home and then removed by the Town of Hempstead Animal Control.
One resident told Hall it could have been the same animals that chased him a year ago.
"A little bit scary – my wife saw them coming, and she called to me, 'Come in the house, come in the house, come in the house,'" he said.
The resident said he would not be surprised if the same dogs are now chasing other people.
Friday's incident follows what happened in Lakeview on Tuesday when a 16-year-old boy was attacked by the dogs while walking on Parkside Road and Cedar Road, police said. He suffered injuries to his left arm.
Minutes later, a 54-year-old woman was attacked while walking on Pinebrook Avenue and Parkside Road, police said. She also sustained injuries to her left arm.
Then not long after, Janelle Manning, 24, was walking on Pinebrook Avenue and Tyler Road when she said the dogs came out of nowhere and lunged at her.
Finally, Kashina Sylvester, 29, was in front of 33 Clinton Ave., when she was attacked by the pit bulls, police said. She suffered injuries to her face, both arms and left shoulder.
