Nassau Police To Beef Up DWI Patrols For Thanksgiving Long Weekend
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Officials in Nassau County have announced plans for a new drunk driving enforcement effort set to launch in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
As WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, Nassau police will be beefing up DWI patrols over the upcoming long weekend.
"We'll be on the expressways, we'll be on the major streets, we'll be around the bars. We'll be everywhere where we can humanly be," Police Commissioner Thomas Dale said.
Starting Wednesday, there will be an additional 100 officers patrolling the roadways, authorities announced. The day before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest party days of the year, Xirinachs reported.
