Nassau County Beefing Up Patrols To Catch Drunken Drivers This New Year's
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Nassau County is not the place to drive drunk this New Year's holiday, County Executive Ed Mangano warned Tuesday.
"We'll have a full staffing of patrol posts throughout Nassau County, so we are out there patrolling," Mangano told reporters, including WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.
Think ahead and have a designated driver if you plan to drink, or call a taxi, said Assistant District Attorney Maureen McCormick.

"For God's sake, do not treat your lives so cheaply as to take this stupid risk," she said.
Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said cops will not go easy on drunken drivers.
"You will be handcuffed, searched, fingerprinted and put in a holding cell by our officers until your arraignment," he said. "You will be treated as a criminal."
