N.J. Health Department Approves Second Medical Marijuana Dispensary To Sell To Patients
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A second medical marijuana dispensary has permission to start selling pot to patients in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Health Department announced Friday that Compassionate Care Foundation in Egg Harbor Township can open.
The facility has been allowed to grow cannabis since June.
The dispensary has not announced exactly what day it will open.
The state selected six nonprofit groups to grow and sell medical marijuana, but so far only one has opened its facility.
One group, Compassionate Care Center of America, has begun growing marijuana and expects to open in Woodbridge later this year.
The Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair became the state's first medical marijuana dispensary when it opened in Dec. 2012.
Nearly 1,400 medical marijuana patients have registered with the state. Multiple sclerosis, terminal cancer, glaucoma and HIV are among the approved conditions.
