N.J. Governor Christie Embarks On National Tour
TRENTON, NJ (WCBS 880) - It's no surprise that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be traveling much of the next month to campaign for fellow Republicans who are running for office.

"The reason why the national GOP is so interested in Chris Christie is that he seems to be putting conservative ideas to an actual test in the economy," Rutgers political science associate professor Matthew Hale told WCBS 880 reporter Levon Putney. "He slashed the budgets. He's gone after unions."
Hale says Christie is more of a moderate, to counter the Tea Party movement.
Hale says, "The Tea Party part of it is more on social issues. You know, it's back to a religious right agenda and Christie doesn't focus on that."
Christie's first stop is in Los Angeles to stump for California's GOP gubernatorial candidate - Meg Whitman.
