N.J. Cities Planning Events To Cash In On Super Bowl XLVIII
SECAUCUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - New Jersey towns are planning events to take advantage of Super Bowl week in early February.
In Secaucus, officials are planning Winter Blast to coincide with Super Bowl XLVIII.
But as WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, municipalities cannot use the phrase Super Bowl or the logos for the NFL or Super Bowl XLVIII without violating league policy.

"We're going to have a food truck mash, we're going to have a beer garden, we're going to have a lot of activities for children," Mayor Michael Gonnelli told Haskell. "We're going to try to create a village atmosphere with different vendors and shops and we have a plan - entertainment, concerts, all sorts of stuff."
The city is looking for a sponsor for its Super Bowl week festivities but Gonnelli said they won't use those already partnering with the NFL.
"The NFL really kind of owns those sponsorships, it's something they put their name on and it's something they really need to protect," Gonnelli said.
Still, the mayor said they'll follow the rules to take advantage of the huge influx of people expected in the area for the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium.
"We're trying to capture an audience that's not typically here to get them to come back here, to say 'wow,'" said Gonnelli.
Secaucus will not pay for the event itself. Jersey City's Mayor Steven Fulop said he's in the same boat.
"It's unpredictable what's going to happen at that time of year as it relates to weather, access, how many people are really going to be here," Fulop told Haskell.
The two teams in the Super Bowl will be staying in Jersey City hotels.
Both men are hoping to reap benefits for their cities from the game.
