MUST SEE: Dunkin' Donuts Worker Stops Robbery By Splashing Suspect With Hot Coffee
WEST HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- The phrase "wake up and smell the coffee" will certainly take on a new meaning for one would-be robber in Connecticut.
Authorities said the suspect pulled up to the drive-through window at a Dunkin' Donuts in West Haven on Saturday night, took out a $100 bill and asked for change.
The worker refused.
When she tried to close the drive-through window, the suspect announced it was a robbery and tried to climb into the store.
That is when the worker tossed a cup of hot coffee on the suspect and then splashed him with a whole pot of joe as he retreated back into the white Ford Explorer and drove away.
The suspect was still on the loose Tuesday night.
Anyone with information should contact West Haven police at 203-937-3905.
