Multiple Residential Buildings Lose Power In Williamsburg, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Power went out Friday afternoon at four buildings in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as a result of what was believed to be a smoking manhole.
Power went out at 440, 444, 446 and 450 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg around 6 p.m., Con Edison told CBS 2. The complex includes that Schaefer Landing development.
Con Ed and FDNY crews were on the scene Friday evening, and fire crews searched all elevators, the FDNY told CBS 2. No one was found in the elevators, and no one was injured or transported to a hospital.
Con Ed believes a smoking manhole was to blame for the outages.
It was not immediately learned how many power customers were affected by the outage.
Con Ed, the FDNY and the Office of Emergency Management were all sent to the scene.
Power was being restored by 7:45 p.m.
